The Spanish Bisyllables Form 4© consists of four lists of 50 words each (for a total of 200 words) for word recognition. (Because of the nature of the Spanish language, bisyllables are preferred over monosyllables as a test of word recognition.) This Spanish Bisyllables Form 4 product includes all of the same 200 Bisyllable words as Form 1, but they are presented in a different sequence to prevent memorization.

This product is the short interval versions of Spondees and NU-6 Form A© (Lists 1-4). These short-interval versions give the patient 2.5 seconds to respond instead of the standard four seconds. It is an effective way to speed up administration time, but this version is not recommended for young children or the elderly.

The Spondees is a speech threshold (speech reception threshold-SRT) recording. The Spondees, also known as CID W-1, are two-syllable words with equal stress on each syllable, which are employed to obtain thresholds for speech. There are two randomizations of 36 spondaic words spoken without a carrier phrase for adults. The median speech reception threshold (SRT) for normal listeners is 20 dB SPL (0dBHL).

The W-22 Ordered by Difficulty Short Interval© is a word recognition or speech discrimination test. It consists of four lists of 25 words each selected by D. Rose so that they are ordered from most likely to be missed to the least likely. If the first 10 items (or 9 of the 10) are heard correctly, the test is halted, since it is assumed that an individual with word recognition difficulty will be most likely to miss the most difficult items. Persons who miss more than one of the first ten items are given the entire 25-word list.

This short-interval version of the test gives the patient 2.5 seconds to respond instead of the standard four seconds. It is yet another way to effectively speed up administration time, but this version is not recommended for young children or the elderly. The administration time will vary from 2-15 minutes depending on how well the patient performs.
