Time Compressed Sentence Test©

The Time Compressed Sentence Test© (TCST) is for identifying and quantifying disorders of auditory processing in children specifically the child’s ability to understand acoustically distorted or rapid rates of speech.  In addition, results of testing with the TCST may yield insights into children with slow reaction times and speed of mental processing. It is considered a monaural low redundancy speech test (monaural separation closure -MSC) sensitive to brainstem and cortical lesions. The developer states the TCST can be administered and scored in less than 15 minutes.

The Time Compressed Sentence Test© includes a) audio recording, and b) manual and score forms as printable pdf files. The extensive manual includes administration, scoring, and interpretation information. Age-specific normative data for ages 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10-11  is included. The developer recommends using the normative data for the 10-11 age category as a guideline for testing patients older than 11. Masking Level Difference-Speech©

The Masking Level Difference-Speech© is an auditory processing disorder test. It is considered a binaural interaction test sensitive to low brainstem. This recording employs spondee words imbedded in speech spectrum noise bursts.  It is in two sections; section 1 is where both the noise and the spondees are in phase, section 2 is where the noise is in phase and the spondees are 180 degrees out of phase. A release from masking is expected in the latter section.

The Masking Level Difference-Speech© includes a) audio recording, and b) instructions and score form as printable pdf files. The one-page instructions contain administration, scoring, and interpretation information. Normative data is included, but it is not age-specific. Available from Auditec, Inc. Use the “Buy Now” button below or call 1-800-669-9065 (from US) or 314-416-1050 (outside the US) to order. FREE shipping within the contiguous US.

Pediatric Speech Intelligibility©

The Pediatric Speech Intelligibility Test© is a test for children ages 3 to 6. It fits in two important auditory processing domains. It can be categorized as both a dichotic test and a monaural low-redundancy speech test (monaural separation closure-MSC) sensitive to low brainstem.

The importance of speech audiometry, especially where the test materials include both monosyllabic words and sentences, has been well established for adults. Experience with performance vs. intensity (PI) functions and message to competition ratio (MCR) functions with adults led to the development of an analogous test for children; the Pediatric Speech Intelligibility (PSI) test.

The PSI includes both monosyllabic words and and two sets of sentences recorded in quiet and with competition (auditory figure ground). The test employs color plates with pictures of animals (animals were used to avoid ethnic biases) which represent either the sentences or the words. It is an extremely useful tool for the investigation of peripheral and auditory processing with children down to a language age of three or slightly younger.

The test includes: a) corresponding laminated color plates, b) audio test recording, and c) manual and score forms as printable pdf files. This extensive manual includes background, administration, and interpretation information including normative data for young children. Rapid Alternating Speech©

The Rapid Alternating Speech© is an auditory processing disorder test for both children and adults using verbal stimuli. This binaural interaction test is sensitive to the low brainstem. It consists of a series of sentences that alternate between the ears as they are spoken. The period is 600 msec. with a 50% duty cycle (i.e. 300 msec. per ear).

Rapid Alternating Speech© includes a) audio recording, and b) instructions and sentence list. The one-page instructions includes information on administration, scoring, and interpretation. Normative data is included, but it is not age specific. Available from Auditec, Inc. Use the “Buy Now” button below or call 1-800-669-9065 (from US) or 314-416-1050 (outside the US) to order. Masking Level Difference-Tone©

The Masking Level Difference-Tone© is an auditory processing disorder test. It is considered a binaural interaction test sensitive to low brainstem. The MLD Tone (500Hz) uses nonverbal stimuli. It is a short test in which both hetero- and homo-phasic trials are contained.  A release from masking is expected in the heterophasic conditions. This test was designed and recorded by Richard Wilson. Test administration is approximately five minutes.

The Masking Level Difference-Tone© includes a) audio recording, and b) instructions and score form as printable pdf files.
