Does Auditec offer a picture-pointing test for young children in other languages? Yes, a similar test is available in Spanish called the Spanish Pediatric Picture Identification Test. If your pediatric patient speaks a different language, consider employing a test with nonverbal stimuli such as the Sound Effects Recognition Test.

⇒What is the difference between the WIPI First Edition and WIPI Second Edition?

  1. The original authors of the WIPI developed a second edition to clear up the ambiguity of the first edition. In some cases the picture contains a more modern depiction, such as the coke bottle is now 2-liter bottle. About one picture per page was changed.
  2. The word list was changed. Therefore, the WIPI recording must correspond to the correct version.
  3. If you are unsure whether you own the first or second edition, check the color of the cover. If you own one of the old printed WIPI First Edition books, the cover will be either blue or green. The WIPI Second Edition is a dark red/ maroon color.

NU-6 OD II Short Interval©

The NU-6 Ordered by Difficulty Version II Short Interval© allows the audiologist to reduce the time of testing in cases where the patient has essentially normal word recognition ability.  It is the result of recent research on our original recording by Raymond Hurley and Janet Sells. The lists are ordered from the most difficult to the easiest.  With normal listeners the test can often be terminated after the first 10 words.  This is not a half list; however, there is a provision for termination of the test after 25 words in addition to after the first 10 words.

This short-interval version of the test gives the patient 2.5 seconds to respond instead of the standard four seconds. It is yet another way to effectively speed up administration time, but this version is not recommended for young children or the elderly. The administration time will vary from 2-16 minutes depending on how well the patient performs.

The NU-6 Ordered by Difficulty Version II Short Interval© version includes a) audio recording, and b) instructions and list. The one-page instructions include method, scoring, and interpretation. Normative data is included, but it is not age specific.

Spondees; NU-6 Ordered by Difficulty II©

This product consists of a recording of Spondees with a recording of the NU-6 Ordered by Difficulty Version II.

The Spondees is a speech threshold (speech reception threshold-SRT) recording. The Spondees, also known as CID W-1, are two-syllable words with equal stress on each syllable, which are employed to obtain thresholds for speech. There are two randomizations of 36 spondaic words spoken without a carrier phrase for adults. The median speech reception threshold (SRT) for normal listeners is 20 dB SPL (0dBHL). Administration of the Spondees will take approximately seven minutes.

The NU-6 Ordered by Difficulty Version II allows the audiologist to reduce the time of testing in cases where the patient has essentially normal word recognition ability.  It is the result of recent research on our original recording by Raymond Hurley and Janet Sells. This is a recording of a male talker. The lists are ordered from the most difficult to the easiest.  With normal listeners the test can often be terminated after the first 10 words.  This is not a half list; however, there is a provision for termination of the test after 25 words in addition to after the first 10 words.

The Spondees; NU-6 Ordered by Difficulty Version II© includes a) audio recording and b) printed word lists. This product does not include instructions, normative data, or pictures.
