The SCAN-3 Adult & Adolescent© version is for ages 13-60. It is a battery of tests for the detection of (central) auditory processing disorders. SCAN-3 was developed to assist in the identification of specific auditory processing difficulties; differentiating auditory processing disorders form auditory processing skills and auditory attention difficulties. The pattern of an individual’s test results will help in the planning of intervention activities to help minimize the impact that an auditory processing disorder can have on school, work, home and the community.

SCAN-3 can be used as a screening test, requiring only about 10-15 minutes to administer, or a diagnostic assessment can be achieved in 30-45 minutes. The screening tests have normative based criterion –referenced scores. The diagnostic test results in scaled scores, and percentile ranks. Ear advantage scores for most of the tests are obtained.

The SCAN-3 Adult & Adolescent© includes a) audio recording, b) manual and score forms. The extensive manual includes administration, scoring, and interpretation information. Normative data is included for the ages specified by the version.

The Hearing Loss Simulation© attempts to demonstrate what a hearing loss might sound like to the hearing impaired. It is in two main parts; part one demonstrates a flat “conductive” loss down to 40 dB in 10 dB steps (40 dB of attenuation), and part two simulates high frequency losses. The latter section employs both male and female talkers in quiet and in noise. 25 The Hearing Loss Simulation demonstration consists of sharp (48 dB/oct) low-pass filters at 2000, 1000 and 500 Hz, illustrating precipitous high frequency losses. Brief introductions precede each section.

The Spanish Test of Auditory Processing Skills Version 3© (Spanish TAPS-3) is an auditory skills test for Spanish or Spanish-English bilingual speakers. It provides information about auditory attention, basic phonological skills, auditory memory, and auditory cohesion.

The Auditory Attention portion is administered using a recording. The subtest is Auditory Figure-Ground screener (optional).
The Basic Phonological Skills is administered using live voice. Subtests include Word Discrimination, Phonological Segmentation, and Phonological Blending.
The Auditory Memory is administered using live voice. Subtests include Number Memory Forward, Number Memory Reversed, Word Memory, and Sentence Memory.
The Auditory Cohesion is administered using live voice. Auditory Comprehension and Auditory Reasoning

Administration time is approximately 65 minutes.

DWLT & CS, Indexed Short Interval©

The DWLT & CS, Indexed Short Interval© combines the Dichotic Word Listening Test and Competing Sentences. The tests have been altered to decrease testing time. The response time for both tests has been reduced to five seconds. Additionally, the carrier phrase has been removed from the Dichotic Word Listening Test. The indexed short interval version has more tracks than the original. It consists of the Dichotic Word Listening Test indexed after every ten words, the Dichotic Word Listening Test indexed after every fifteen words, the Competing Sentences indexed after every ten sentences, the Competing Sentences indexed after every fifteen sentences. This configuration enables the administrator to access different parts of the word list simply by advancing the track.

The DWLT & CS© includes: a) audio recording, and b) instructions and score forms as printable pdf files. The DWLT and CS instructions pertain to the original test recorded with the carrier phrase and at standard intervals. No normative data for the altered versions are available, but one would assume it would be similar to the original.
