Dichotic Digits – Standard©

The Dichotic Digits-Standard© test is an auditory processing disorder test using verbal stimuli. It is considered a dichotic test for binaural integration sensitive to brainstem, cortical, and corpus callosal lesions.

This established test assesses the ability to process different materials arriving at the ears simultaneously. Fifty sets of digits, one through nine (except seven, having two syllables) are presented either in single pairs or double pairs. The digits begin and end simultaneously. Administration time is approximately ten minutes.

Dichotic Digits-Standard© includes a) audio recording, and b) instructions and score forms as printable pdf files. The one-page instructions consist of administration, scoring, and interpretation information. Normative data¹ for double digits is included; however, it is only available for ages 11 and up.

There are 12 spondee representations displayed as color photos on this color 8½ x 11 inch glossy card. The recording consists of a male talker speaking the pictured spondee words in a random order. The Tennessee Test of Rhythm & Intonation Patterns© (T-TRIP) was developed to reliably investigate children and adults who exhibit poor rhythm and intonation patterns. Basically, the test looks at the ability to perceive different rhythm and intonation patterns. The recording contains stress, tempo and intonation items. The PBK-50 Form A©, also known as PBK-50, tests word recognition ability of lower grade school age children. The articulation function is approximately 4%/dB. There are three lists of 50 words (150 words total) available in four different randomizations. Administration time is 10-15 minutes.

W-22 Ordered by Difficulty©

The W-22 Ordered by Difficulty© is a word recognition or speech discrimination test. It consists of four lists of 25 words each selected by D. Rose so that they are ordered from most likely to be missed to the least likely. If the first 10 items (or 9 of the 10) are heard correctly, the test is halted, since it is assumed that an individual with word recognition difficulty will be most likely to miss the most difficult items. Persons who miss more than one of the first ten items are given the entire 25-word list. The administration time will vary from 4-21 minutes depending on how well the patient performs.

This recording has the NU-6 Form A (Lists 1-4) opposite Cafeteria Noise as competition. It is  considered speech in noise. The primary signal (word list) is recorded on the left track, and the competition is on the right. This versatile recording can be administered for masking, speech in noise, or words in quiet. With a dual-channel audiometer, the administrator can set their own signal-to-noise ratio by mixing the left and right channels. They can access the left channel only to administer the word lists in quiet.

Spondee Binaural Fusion©

The Spondee Binaural Fusion© is an auditory processing disorder test for both children and adults using verbal stimuli. It is considered a binaural interaction test. It consists of selected child spondee words which have been band-pass filtered in two frequency bands: one for one channel (ear) and the other for the second channel. The low band extends from 500 to 700 Hz, the high band from 1.9 kHz to 2.1 kHz. The recording begins with pulsed speech spectrum noise, passed through the same filters for the purpose of establishing thresholds for those particular frequency bands. These thresholds are to be used to establish the proper presentation levels. Administration time is approximately four minutes.
